FAQ

About Current Forge

What is Current Forge and who makes these products?

Current Forge is a small-batch maker brand building practical rigging and control parts for motorized fishing setups. Every product is designed, prototyped, and field-tested by the founder on a real kayak before it ships to a customer.

What material are these products made from?

All Current Forge housings and mounts are printed in PETG, an outdoor-rated thermoplastic with better UV, heat, and impact resistance than standard PLA. It's the right material for a cockpit environment where parts see sun, spray, and vibration on every trip.

Are these products waterproof?

No. Current Forge products are designed to handle cockpit splash and light spray in normal kayak use. They are not submersible and should not be submerged. Inspect parts before each trip and keep electrical connections protected with appropriate marine-rated connectors and heat shrink.

Will these hold up in the sun?

PETG handles UV exposure better than PLA and is appropriate for outdoor use. Like any plastic component on a kayak, prolonged direct UV exposure over time will cause gradual degradation. Inspect parts seasonally and store out of direct sun when not in use.
