Handheld Remote Speed Controller Housing for Trolling Motors
There is no purpose-built handheld controller housing for kayak trolling motor setups — what exists is improvised: food containers, GoPro housings, or a full PWM unit with the pot and rocker mounted directly on the box, which is clunky and not designed for cockpit use. The Handheld Remote Speed Controller Housing is a purpose-printed PETG shell — UV, heat, and impact resistant — sized around a Bourns PDB18 series potentiometer (7.20mm shaft, M7 x P0.75 bushing thread) and E-Switch R1966 series rocker switch (13mm x 20mm panel cutout), with a back cover and four screws so your build closes clean. Justin has run the same housing on over 100 trips across two seasons on a Vanhunk Mahi Mahi 11' with a 36lb thrust NP Trolling Motor — no failures.

Who It's For
Builders who already have their electrical components and want a purpose-designed housing to finish the build cleanly — not a sourcing project.
Compatibility
Housing openings are sized for a Bourns PDB18 series potentiometer (7.20mm shaft opening, M7 x P0.75 bushing thread) and E-Switch R1966 series rocker switch (13mm x 20mm panel cutout). Other components with matching shaft and cutout dimensions may fit — verify dimensions against your components before ordering. Designed for use with the Handheld Remote Speed Controller Cradle Mount (sold separately) for hands-free mounting on standard kayak T-track systems.
Important: This housing is not waterproof. It is not designed to be submerged or soaked. Buyers who require waterproof housing should not order this product. Conformal coating the internal electricals is possible but is not a tested or supported configuration — buyer assumes that risk.
Install Difficulty: DIY — You supply and install all electrical components. Basic soldering and wiring knowledge required. The housing provides the enclosure; it does not include the pot, rocker switch, wire, or connectors.
Need the Bourns PDB18 series pot and E-Switch R1966 rocker switch to go with it? The Handheld Remote Speed Controller Parts Kit includes both components, matched and ready to wire.
